Alana Lapierre
Freelance wine writer, magazine and publication contributor, content creator, copywriter, and wine jury (Sélections Mondiales des Vins) my official title is a bit vague and my wine path somewhat unconventional. A perpetual student of wine, my studies are ongoing – and likely always will be (once a wine geek, always a wine geek).
Certified in Wine (I completed the Wine & Spirits Education Trust WSET Levels 2 & 3 ‘Award in Wine’ courses), Champagne (Comité interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne) and a Le Cordon Bleu trained food & wine writer, I contribute to various publications (including VineRoutes & Forbes, to name a couple) and also work as a copywriter and ghostwriter for wine and food journalists, wineries, agents, events, and blogs.
In a previous (and sometimes still parallel) life, I pursued undergraduate and graduate studies in psychology and worked as a senior global executive in corporate communications and human resources for some well-known global brands in the beverage, fashion, retail, technology, and finance industries.
But, as they say, all roads lead to Rome (quite literally in my case), and my eternal curiosity for learning and passion for wine led me to wine studies, writing, traveling (and tasting, of course).
I have lived, written, and worked in Montreal, Toronto, NYC, Paris, Dubaï, Qatar, and Algeria, and I’ve tasted my way through 43 countries over 5 continents. I’m happiest with a glass of wine in hand, either at one of my favorite wine bars or at home (currently in Montreal, Qc.), with my pack of rescues – two street dogs from Lebanon, Birdy and Clooney, and a bossy, tripawd Maine Coon cat named Snax.
