Amanda Greenbaum

Hi Everyone!

My name is Amanda Greenbaum and I’m obsessed with wine and spirits. I was born and raised in the Malibu Coast. I fell in love with wine at the ripe age of 14 when my family bought a half acre hillside of vineyard. Since then I fell more in love with the wine world and now run my family’s boutique winery AJA Vineyards. I graduated from UCLA in June 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Food Studies emphasizing my studies in Wine. I went on to receive a certification from the International Culinary Center as a Wine Student and passed my Court of Master Sommeliers America Certification Exam in December of 2018. I am also a certified bartender and mixologist; a certification I received in March of 2018.

I am also the creator and content writer for a blog called SOMMthing Rad. In my blog, I write about my recommendations for wine and beer along with descriptions, travel ideas and adult beverage culture in general. I also create and shares cocktail recipes. You can see more of my articles via www.sommthingrad.com.

I am so excited to be able to work with the Vintner Project because one of the most important things we can do in this life is to educate people. And even further, educate people on wine. Clifton Fadiman once said “To take wine into our mouths is to savor a droplet of the river of human history.” That is exactly why I love wine. Wine is the way we can explore the world around us, learn about history through a different lens, and from that, find ways to make life more excitable, pleasurable, and better each day. When I study wine, it takes me into the culture, the town and the time where the wine is from. Each bottle of wine has a different story to share. And there’s no better way to share a story than over a glass of wine.

With the Vintner Project, I want to be able to share this information with the new generations and older. The wine world, unfortunately, is not climbing like it used to climb. Through platforms like these, we can make the popularity of wine rise again.
