Apu Winery & Vineyard: the first winery in the Peruvian Andes

Meet Fernando Gonzales-Lattini, the pioneer and proprietor behind Apu Winery & Vineyard – The first winery in the Peruvian Andes. Apu winery is nestled among small farms, heath and woodlands and sits upon rich and bright white limestone. While winemaking is not a new industry in Peru (winemaking in Peru dates back to the 16th century), Apu Winery is a dramatic shift from traditional Peruvian wine. Most wine in Peru is sourced primarily from the dusty, arid coast where industrial-scale vineyards are churning out the vast majority of Peruvian wine.

With decades of experience under his belt as a restaurateur, sommelier and distiller of award-winning pisco, Fernando’s goal is to not simply be a winemaker but a vigneron. Apu Winery will be releasing their first commercial vintage this year. It will include Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé and Sangiovese offerings.
