Few winemakers I’ve had the pleasure to feature have as colorful and diverse a background as this man above. Thomas, winemaker and proprietor of Thomas T Thomas Vineyards in Mendocino County, California had a very successful 30+ year career that spanned both the financial services and biotechnology fields. But at his core, Thomas is an artist. He’s a farmer, a winemaker, an opera singer, a classical and jazz guitarist, and an award winning abstract artists.
Thomas’ journey into winemaking started back in 1999 after a life changing trip to Burgundy. In 2001, with the dream of producing world-class, Burgundian style wines, Thomas acquired 40 acres of raw land in the Anderson Valley first developing his home and later developing a small vineyard site. For the past 10 years, Thomas has been slowly but surely developing his vineyard, working the land and selling his grapes to established winemakers. Since his first harvest in 2011, wines that were being made from his vineyard have been attracting very good score (90+) and have won Gold and Silver Medals in various prestigious wine competitions. Thus keeping Thomas’ dream of making his own world class wine alive. Now, after a nearly 20 year journey, Thomas will soon be releasing his first commercial vintage under his own label.
Despite his many accomplishments, Thomas remains humble and continues to work hard to pursue his dreams. It’s individuals like Thomas who inspire me to continue to push myself personally and professionally and to live a life of purpose and passion. It’s truly an honor to share his story with you.
