Atwater Vineyards Riesling 2016

One of the things that make our 2016 Riesling special is the addition of 16% Vignoles. Over the 20 years I’ve been making wine at Atwater Vineyards. I’ve never added anything to our Rieslings with the exception of this wine.”

– Vinny Aliperti , Head Winemaker

WINEMAKER NOTES

Harvested from three of our vineyard blocks and co-fermented in stainless steel tanks with W15 yeast. Vignoles added to tank in December 2015, where wine was aged until bottling.

ABOUT VINNY ALIPERTI

Vinny Aliperti has been winemaking for over twenty years. Starting out in the Hamptons of Long Island, he apprenticed for three vintages (1997-1999) at Wolffer Estate under long-time winemaker Roman Roth, primarily producing Chardonnay and Merlot. In early 2000, Vinny moved with his family to the Finger Lakes to work at the legendary Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard, where he first learned Riesling production. In 2001 Vinny joined the then startup Atwater Estate Vineyards, where he continues today heading up winemaking operations.

ABOUT ATWATER VINEYARDS

Atwater Estate Vineyards is a family-owned winery located on eighty scenic acres on the eastern side of Seneca Lake. Our unique site boasts a microclimate ideal for grape production, and we are intimately connected to every vine we grow. This hands-on knowledge allows us to lovingly cultivate the grapes in our vineyards with precision, balance, and high quality control. As a result, the winemaking team can create thoughtful wines in a variety of styles with the use of neutral barrels, skin and stem inclusion, and sparkling offerings.
