Blue Farm Carneros Pinot Noir 2019

Blue Farm Carneros Pinot Noir 2019

“The Anne Katherina is our staple Estate Pinot Noir.  When I planted this vineyard in 2001, I organized it into three blocks with three separate clones (Dijon 667, Dijon 115, and Swan) to create one complete wine.  I always say that with Pinot, you cannot blend varieties, but you can blend clones to bring out different nuances unique to each clone.  The Anne Katherina beautifully showcases the power and beauty of Carneros Pinot Noir.”

– Anne Moller-Racke, Winegrower & Proprietor

WINEMAKER NOTES

Blue Farm takes its name from the farmhouse at Anne Moller-Racke’s home and vineyard in Carneros. In 2001, Anne planted seven acres of pinot noir divided into three blocks dedicated to the Swan clone and two Dijon clones. The Dijon 115 contributes perfume and power, the Swan fills the wine’s middle, adding body and textural layers, and the Dijon 667 lends structure. Together they produce one complete wine from the Anne Katherina Vineyard.

ABOUT BLUE FARM

Founded on Anne Moller-Racke’s 30-plus years of winegrowing in Sonoma, Blue Farm was conceptualized in 2001 during her planting of Anne Katherina, Blue Farm’s first estate vineyard. Blue Farm believes that an intimate understanding and connection to our vineyards is core to making site-specific Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of the highest quality.

ABOUT ANNE MOLLER-RACKE

A native of Oberwesel, Germany, Anne Moller-Racke came to California in 1981 and became vineyard manager for Buena Vista Carneros Winery in 1983. By 1997 she was promoted to Vice President of Vineyard Operations. She helped establish what is now the Carneros Wine Alliance and brought recognition to Carneros as an American Viticultural Area (AVA).

In 1999, Anne purchased a Farmhouse property in southwest Sonoma that included a historical Victorian house, now her home, and a 10 acre parcel that she planted to vine the following year. During that same time Anne founded the Donum Estate and built the reputation of being one of California’s leading Pinot Noir producers. Today, Anne is focused on solely Blue Farm, which she expanded from the Estate Anne Katherina Vineyard, to some of the most respected vineyards in Sonoma County.
