District 7 Chardonnay 2018

Each different vineyard shows its own special Terroir style and expressive fruit character, and for this wine we take advantage of that diversity to make a “Monterey” style chardonnay.  With subtle use of oak to round out the mouthfeel, this is one of my go-to white wines.”

WINEMAKER NOTES

I have been working with Chardonnay from Monterey for over 30 years and still consider it one of the best places in California to grow this variety.  This is an easy wine to showcase what Monterey can do with grapes for wine.  Each different vineyard shows its own special Terroir style and expressive fruit character, and for this wine we take advantage of that diversity to make a “Monterey” style chardonnay.  With subtle use of oak to round out the mouthfeel, this is one of my go-to white wines.

ABOUT DISTRICT 7

District 7 is all that Monterey as a winegrowing region has to offer. The number refers to our official regional designation within the state of California, but District 7 is much more than just a prime number. Most experts recognize Monterey County as one of the most beautiful and diverse winegrowing regions in the world with complex soils and coastal weather patterns.

Our winemaking team reaps the benefits of the exceptional fruit we produce, creating wines that are fruit forward, true to varietal character and a delicious reflection of Monterey.
