Château La Tonnelle AOC Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois 2018

Château La Tonnelle AOC Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois 2018

“2018 was a very classic Haut Médoc vintage. This wine can be cellared for 20 – 25 years but why wait? Decant it for an hour or two and enjoy it now with cheese, meat, or pasta.”

– Vincent Fabre, Winemaker at Chateau La Tonnelle

We started picking at Chateau La Tonnelle in late September and continued for three weeks. First with Cabernet Sauvignon, then Merlot, and finally with Petit Verdot. All our grapes are picked by machine. By picking by machine, which is incredibly fast, we’re able to wait until the very last minute. Enabling us to pick at the perfect time and pick a fully mature grape.
Crop is destemmed. Vinification is completed in stainless steel vats and skin maceration lasts 3-4 weeks. This blend was created a the beginning of 2019, and was aged 1 year in barrel. This wine will pair beautifully now with cheese, meat, or pasta but it can be aged for 20 – 25 years.

Domaines Fabre have been family estate for 3 generations now, in Haut-Médoc & Margaux appellations.

Located in the center of the Medoc peninsula, they are committed to respecting their environment. This is why since the 2017 vintage, all their wines have been certified High Environmental Value Level 3 (HVE). They work to preserve biodiversity and limit their energy consumption.

Chateau La Tonnelle was acquired by Vincent Fabre in 1982 when he returned to the family estate to work with his father Gabriel. The vineyard is located on Pyrenean gravel and offers supple and fruity wines.
