The dark and rich fruit forward personality of Petite Sirah, makes this one of my favorite wines to ferment and blend. This is a signature varietal for Peltier as it’s what put us on the map.”
– Susana Rodriguez Vasquez, Head Winemaker

WINEMAKER NOTES
The very first wine we ever bottled was a 2005 Petite Sirah. It won a Gold Medal at the California State Fair and brought to fruition the idea that we could be more than a custom crush facility. We were producing exceptional wines from our high quality estate fruit and the rest is history.
Needless to say, this Petite Sirah is a favorite around here and the 2015 vintage is no exception. Sweet aromatics and juicy, fresh fruit flavors invite you in and finish bold to keep you coming back for more. With or without food, this Petite Sirah is a wonderful representation of our winemaking style and winery philosophy, it’s for everyone.

ABOUT PELTIER WINERY
With generations of farming experience in his family, Rodney Schatz continued that legacy with dreams of farming his own way and purchased his first vineyard (Old Vine Zinfandel) shortly after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1985 with his wife Gayla.
They continued to purchase vineyards, harvesting for others around the state, buy equipment over the years and when a year of oversupply left grapes unsold, Rod & Gayla decided to build a custom crush facility that would also fill a need in the Lodi area. As they gained a reputation for producing high quality fruit and bulk wine, they decided to showcase their work under their own brand and soon after won a gold medal at the California State Fair for a 2005 Petite Sirah that helped to validate the idea that bottling their own wine was a worthwhile pursuit. While bulk wine and private label is still the largest part of our operation today, we’ve grown to produce about 60,000 cases annually under our own brands from our 1,000 acres of Estate Vineyard, all in the Lodi Appellation and will be celebrating 20 years of winemaking in 2021!
Being farmers first, we focus on cultivating the highest quality fruit, because simply put, exceptional wine begins in the vineyard. Quality fruit means less manipulation is needed throughout the winemaking process and the true characteristics of each varietal shines. All of our Estate Grown vineyards are farmed sustainably in compliance with LODI RULES, a voluntary, third party certified program that demonstrates a commitment to farming high quality wine grapes through care of the land, air, water, habitat and employee. For us, sustainability isn’t only about honoring what’s best for the environment, it’s what’s necessary to adapt to an ever changing industry and to create a brighter future for generations to come.
