Zulal Areni Reserve 2018

Zulal Areni Reserve 2018

This is a special wine. We hand selected the Areni grapes and harvest from a single plot in Arpa Valley, Vayots Dzor. It is an elegant wine with notes of white pepper, rosemary, and ripe, red berries. Aged in Caucasian oak, this wine is very balanced with velvety tannins and refined aftertaste.”

– Aimee Keushguerian, Founder

The grapes were sourced from a south-facing single plot with volcanic soil situated at 3,900 feet in Arpa Valley, Vayots Dzor.

ABOUT ZULAL

Zulal was founded by Aimee Keushguerian in 2017 with the inaugural Zulal Areni Reserve 2015 and Zulal Voskehat 2017. The main grape varieties Areni and Voskehat are sourced from approximately 40 grapegrowers in the villages of Aghavnadzor and Rind as well as the Arpa Valley in the Vayots Dzor region.

In addition to these, Zulal is also engaged in working with lesser known grape varieties, such as Koghbeni from Tavush, Nazeli and Movuz and Tozot and Karmir Kot from Vayots Dzor, Sireni from Artsakh, Jrjruk from Tavush and Kakhet from Artashat. These small lots of wine offer an exciting opportunity to explore rare indigenous grape varieties.

Zulal currently produces approximately 10,000 cases of wine per year.
