J. Hofstatter Pinot Nero Barthenau Vigna S. Urbano 2018 Review
Wow what a wine. A single-vineyard Pinot Noir with some vines topping 65 years in age, this wine exemplifies the true potential of Alto Adige to produce world class bottlings of this noble variety. Dark in color, with concentrated aromas of cherry and raspberry fruit, pencil shavings, vanilla, and a touch of smoke, and a palate offering chewy tannins softened by vibrant acidity, this is a wine capable of additional aging but equally stunning today.
