Jeff Carrel Les Darons 2021 Review
There’s a reason literally every vintage of this wine has won numerous awards: It’s really, really good. Here, Grenache is the star, given weight and texture by the addition of Syrah and Carignan. The name, “Les Darons” is a nod to the idea that Grenache and Carignan are the “forefathers” of AOP Languedoc grapes as well as the affectionate French term for “The Parents” in the Parisian suburbs from where Jeff Carrel hails. This sentimentality carries through to the wine, which is at once contemplative and crushable, perfect for casual sipping or thoughtful pairing. Make this your new house red.
