Nusserhof Lagrein Riserva 2017 Review
Hand-harvested from organically-farmed vines ranging from 20 to 90 years old, fermented using native yeasts followed by a 4-week maceration in stainless steel, and aged in large French barrels for 2 years followed by at least 2 more in bottle, one can immediately get a sense of the quality and seriousness of this wine. This is a stunning example of Lagrein, capturing the true essence of Alto Adige’s terroir. There is so much going on here, from tart red fruit, black plum, earth, and spice, remarkable texture, elegance, and length. This is a wine for the ages.
